Cottage Pudding – Great Grandmother’s Recipe
Old time white cake base for apple cake and a lot of fruit coffee cakes

Method
- Cream shortening, sugar and eggs together.
- Sift dry ingredients together. Add to creamed sugar mixture. Add milk a little at a time, stirring each time. Mix thoroughly. Pour batter into sheet pan or pie tins.Bake at 400. (Charlotte's recipe didn't say for how long)
Fruit topping
- Apple: thinly slice apples.Place on top of batter. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Dot with butter. Bake with apples at 350 for 45 minutes, apples should be tender.
